John Calvin's Story
After graduating from the U. Of Miami (FL), I worked for a few years with vocalist Eve Cornelious. Professionally, I'm known as Calvin Jones.
In 1991, I moved to Manhattan for three years, then
to Brooklyn for 4 years and in'98 I moved to Jersey.
During my time in the tri-state area, I've concentrated
on playing mostly jazz or music from the " African
Diaspora". Performing this music has afforded me the
opportunity to travel to 43 of the 50 U.S. states and
32 countries. I've also played other genres,stylings:
including salsa, montuno, afro-cuban, r&b, cabaret,
funk, orchestral, a lot of avant-garde, "smooth jazz",
(it's really instrumental r&b) and even Broadway-
"Bring 'N Da Noise","Aint Nothin' But The Blues","A...Expand for more

Shook Up", "Wicked"and "Shrek". Some of the people I've
toured, recorded and performed with: Alex Bugnon,
Patti Austin, Donald Byrd, Ronny Jordan, Eartha Kitt,
Greg Osby,Max Roach, Pharoah Sanders, Cassandra
Wilson,Tom Brown and Ravi Coltrane.
I'm not married and I don't have kids. I visit N.C.
about twice a year. I came more often when my mom
was alive. She transitioned in'96. My dad and brother are still in N.C. and are well.
The music industry has changed a lot (lowest common denominator and lack of cultural respect).
It's about selling non-music products(5 hour topic).
Anyway,if you remember me, I'd loved to hear from
you. I've been told I have a great memory;Chances are I'll remember you.
